Product Description
Veterinary Prescription Drug
[Veterinary Drug Name]
Generic Name: Enrofloxacin Solution
[Composition] Enrofloxacin
[Character] This product is a light yellow clear liquid.
[Pharmacological Action]
Pharmacodynamics Enrofloxacin is a broad‑spectrum bactericidal agent of the fluoroquinolone class, exclusively for veterinary use. It exhibits good activity against Escherichia coli, Salmonella spp., Klebsiella spp., Brucella spp., Pasteurella spp., Actinobacillus pleuropneumoniae, Erysipelothrix rhusiopathiae, Proteus spp., Serratia marcescens, Corynebacterium pyogenes, Bordetella septica, Staphylococcus aureus, Mycoplasma, Chlamydia, and other pathogens. It shows weaker activity against Pseudomonas aeruginosa and Streptococcus, and negligible activity against anaerobes. It exerts a pronounced post‑antibiotic effect on susceptible bacteria. The antibacterial mechanism of this product is to inhibit bacterial DNA gyrase, interfere with the replication, transcription, repair, and recombination of bacterial DNA, so that bacteria cannot grow and reproduce normally and thus die.
Pharmacokinetics This product is well absorbed after oral administration in most animal species. The oral bioavailability in chickens is 62.2%–84%. It is widely distributed in poultry, penetrating well into tissues and body fluids (including bone). Except for cerebrospinal fluid, drug concentrations in almost all tissues are higher than those in plasma.Hepatic metabolism mainly involves deethylation of the 7-piperazine ring to form ciprofloxacin, followed by oxidation and glucuronide conjugation. Excretion occurs mainly via the kidneys (through tubular secretion and glomerular filtration), with 15%-50% excreted unchanged in urine. The elimination half-life after oral administration in chickens is 9.1-14.2 hours.
[Drug interactions]
(1) The product has a synergistic effect when used in combination with aminoglycosides or broad-spectrum penicillins.
(2) Heavy metal ions such as Ca²⁺, Mg²⁺, Fe³⁺ and Al³⁺ can chelate with this product, affecting its absorption.
(3) Concomitant use with theophylline or caffeine may reduce the plasma protein binding rate, resulting in abnormally elevated blood concentrations of theophylline and caffeine, and even symptoms of theophylline toxicity.
(4) This product inhibits hepatic drug-metabolizing enzymes, which may decrease the clearance rate and increase the plasma concentration of drugs mainly metabolized in the liver.
[Indications] Fluoroquinolone antibiotics. Used for bacterial diseases and mycoplasma infections.
