Product Description
[Veterinary Drug Name]
Generic Name: Meloxicam Injection(50ml)
[Composition] Meloxicam
[Character] pale yellow-green clear solution.
[Pharmacological Action]
Pharmacodynamics: This product is an antipyretic and analgesic nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID). It mainly exerts its analgesic effect by inhibiting the activity of cyclooxygenase (COX), reducing the production of prostaglandins (PGs). This product selectively inhibits cyclooxygenase (COX-2) with a lighter inhibitory effect on cyclooxygenase (COX-1). Therefore, compared to other similar drugs, this product has fewer adverse effects on the gastrointestinal tract or kidneys.
Pharmacokinetics: After subcutaneous injection, the drug is rapidly absorbed in dogs, reaching its maximum peak concentration in about 2.31 hours. The average retention time in the blood is longer, with high bioavailability (109.19%). Subcutaneous injection results in complete absorption. Meloxicam mainly undergoes metabolism in its unchanged form, with metabolites excreted primarily through urine and feces.
[Indications]Used to control pain and inflammation caused by canine osteoarthritis and postoperative pain.
[Administration and Dosage] Based on meloxicam. Subcutaneous injection: 0.2 mg per kg of body weight for dogs. Administered once before surgery for pain management; for spinal injuries, hip dysplasia, and acute or chronic canine arthritis, continue for 7 consecutive days.
[Adverse Reactions] In a small number of cases, adverse reactions such as vomiting, diarrhea, decreased appetite, and lethargy may occur.
[Precautions]
1. All dogs should undergo a thorough history and physical examination before being given any nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID). Laboratory tests should be conducted to establish hematological and serum biochemical baseline data, with regular check-ups during use.
2. Use with caution in pregnant dogs.
3. Avoid combining with corticosteroids, other non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs, or anticoagulants.
4. Not for use in dogs with liver, heart, or kidney dysfunction, bleeding disorders, or gastrointestinal ulcers.
5. Dogs known to be allergic to meloxicam or other NSAIDs should not use this product.
